Getting there: flights from Canada
There are no nonstop flights from Canada to Kathmandu (KTM); you connect through one hub. From Toronto and Montreal, the Gulf carriers are usually best — Qatar Airways (Doha), Emirates (Dubai) or Etihad (Abu Dhabi), often via a European or US point. From Vancouver, Asian hubs frequently win — Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong) or Korean Air (Seoul). Expect roughly 22–28 hours door-to-door and round-trip fares of about CAD 1,500–2,400 depending on season and booking lead time.

Which trek — and a sample itinerary
- Everest Base Camp (12 days): fly to Lukla → Namche (acclimatize) → Tengboche → Dingboche (acclimatize) → Lobuche → Gorak Shep → Everest Base Camp → sunrise at Kala Patthar → descend.
- Annapurna Base Camp (9 days): from Pokhara into the Sanctuary — gentler, big views, quicker.
- Short on time? Ghorepani–Poon Hill (4–5 days) for a famous Annapurna sunrise.
When to go & what to know
Autumn (Sep–Nov) is peak season with the clearest skies — book 2–3 months ahead; spring (Mar–May) is warm and colourful. Given the long journey, build in a recovery day in Kathmandu and a buffer for the Lukla flight. A licensed guide is required on the main routes (we include one). Your CAD stretches a long way once you're on the ground.
