Key facts for Korean travellers

  • Korean Air flies Seoul (Incheon) to Kathmandu direct — about 7 hours, on a Boeing 787-9.
  • The route runs roughly twice a week; book early around Chuseok and autumn.
  • All-in for a two-week trek: about ₩2.15–3.36 million (~US$1,600–2,500) per person.
  • Korean passport holders get a visa on arrival in Kathmandu.

Koreans are among the world’s keenest hikers — and Nepal is the natural next step up from Bukhansan and Jirisan. The good news: it is an easy trip to reach. Here is the practical plan for a Nepal trek from South Korea in 2026, from flights to a realistic budget in won.

Getting here: the direct route

Korean Air operates a nonstop Incheon–Kathmandu service (flight KE695) of roughly seven hours on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, running about twice weekly. It is the fastest way from Korea to the Himalaya — no more long layovers in Bangkok or Delhi. Seats around Chuseok and the October–November peak fill quickly, so book ahead.

Which trek, and when

Skip the June–August monsoon for the classic trails; the golden windows are October–November (clearest skies) and March–May (rhododendrons). For a first Nepal trek, the two icons are the natural picks — and both suit fit Korean hikers well.

Plan it right

Book the direct Korean Air flight early for autumn, get your visa on arrival, and trek with a licensed guide — now mandatory in Nepal’s national parks and included when you book a full package. Everything else is remarkably affordable by Korean standards.

Short on time? The 4-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek delivers a Himalayan sunrise fast. Want the classics? The Annapurna Base Camp trek (9 days) and Everest Base Camp (14 days) are the most-booked. For visa specifics see our Nepal visa guide.
