Key facts for Singapore trekkers

  • Direct flight: Singapore Airlines SQ442, Changi → Kathmandu in about 5 hours.
  • 11 airlines serve the route (Singapore Airlines, Garuda, Thai, Air India and others).
  • Typical July fares: around SGD 460–650; one-way direct from about S$372.
  • Book 4+ weeks ahead — travellers who do save roughly 26%.

Nepal is one of the few genuinely world-class adventures a Singaporean can reach without a long-haul flight. Changi to Kathmandu is a single hop of just over five hours — shorter than flying to Tokyo. You can leave on a Friday evening and be walking under the Annapurnas on Saturday. Here is how to plan it properly, in Singapore dollars. (For visa specifics see our Nepal visa guide for Singaporeans — this is about the trip around it.)

The flights

The headline option is Singapore Airlines SQ442, a non-stop Changi–Kathmandu service of about 5 hours. Garuda Indonesia also flies direct, and in total 11 carriers serve the route including Thai Airways and Air India via one stop. Return fares in the July window typically run SGD 460–650, with one-way direct seats from around S$372. Booking at least four weeks out cuts roughly a quarter off the price — a meaningful saving on a trip this short.

What it actually costs, in SGD

That is a fully-guided Himalayan trek, flights included, for less than many Singaporeans spend on a week in Europe — and the guided fee bundles permits, a licensed guide, teahouse nights and all trail meals into one number, so there are few surprises once you land.

Best months to go from Singapore

What this means for you

The two clear windows are October–November (crisp, stable, the biggest mountain views) and March–April (warmer, rhododendrons in bloom). Both sit outside Nepal’s June–September monsoon. For Singaporeans the bonus is real cold — after a year at 31°C, a frosty Himalayan sunrise is the point.

Which trek fits your leave days

Short leave? The 4-day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek delivers a legendary Annapurna sunrise on easy days. One week plus? The 9-day Annapurna Base Camp trek walks you into the mountain amphitheatre used in the budget above. Two weeks and a bigger dream? The 14-day Everest Base Camp trek. Flying from Kuala Lumpur instead? See our Nepal trek guide from Malaysia.
