Travel Himalaya Nepal has been sending people into the Annapurnas from Lakeside since 1998. We are looking for licensed Nepali guides to join our roster — people who read weather before it arrives, who turn a group around without apologising for it, and who can make a nervous trekker from Melbourne believe they will get to base camp.

Why guide with us

There are hundreds of agencies in Nepal and most of them subcontract you the week before departure. We are not that. We are a small Pokhara operator that runs its own trips, and the people who guide them are the reason travellers come back.

Real departures, not promises

We publish fixed departure dates across Annapurna, Everest, Manaslu, Langtang and Mustang, and we fill them ourselves. Guides on our roster get offered work from a real booking calendar — not a list you sit on hoping the phone rings.

Fair pay, paid on time

Guide and porter wages are 38% of what a trek earns, and we pay above the Trekking Agencies’ Association rate. We tell travellers that on our own website, which means we have to keep doing it.

Insured on every trip

Medical insurance and proper cold-weather gear on every departure, at our cost. Porter loads are capped at 25 kg and enforced. If a trip needs to turn back, the guide makes that call and we back it — every time.

Your own profile page

Approved guides get a public profile on travelhimalayanepal.com with your name, home valley, languages, licence and the peaks you have led. Travellers read it before they book. Your reputation stops being invisible.

What you need before you start

Four things. Have them on your phone before you open the form and this takes about ten minutes.

A valid trekking guide licence

Government or NMA-issued. We ask for the licence number and its expiry date, and we check it. If yours has lapsed, renew first and apply after.

One identity document

A passport or a citizenship certificate. A clear photo of the page is fine — it does not need to be a scan.

A photo of you

Head and shoulders, daylight, no sunglasses. This becomes your profile picture, so use one you would be happy for a traveller from Sydney to see.

Experience worth describing

The regions you actually guide, the languages you actually speak, and roughly how many years you have been doing it. Write it plainly. We would rather read two honest sentences than a paragraph of adjectives.

How it works

Four steps, start to roster. Most applications are decided within a week of the documents landing.

    Apply

    Fill in the form and upload your photo, ID and any certifications. You can save it half-finished and come back later on your phone — nothing is lost.

  2. 02

    We verify your documents

    A person on our team opens each file, checks it against what you wrote, and confirms your licence number and expiry. No automated screening decides this.

  3. 03

    We review the application

    We look at the regions you guide against the departures we actually run. If we have questions we call you. You will hear from us either way — a rejection with a reason is better than silence.

  4. 04

    You join the roster

    Your profile goes live, you get access to the guide panel, and you start being offered assignments from our departure calendar.

About your identity documents

We ask for an ID because we put your name in front of travellers and tell them you are who you say you are. That is a promise we have to be able to keep. So here is exactly what happens to the file you upload:

  • It is stored in a private bucket. It is never published, never linked from your profile, and never visible to other guides or to travellers.
  • A named member of our team opens it, checks it, and records that they did. Every view is logged.
  • Once your licence and identity are verified, the document is deleted. We keep only the last four digits of the number, so we can answer a question later without holding your passport.
  • Photos you upload are re-encoded in your browser before they are sent, which strips the GPS location and camera data your phone attaches to every picture.
