Airport pick-up and hotel check-in. After breakfast, visit Pashupatinath Temple (1,300m), Nepal's holiest Hindu site on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River — witness cremation ghats and sadhus covered in ash. Continue to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the eyes of the Buddha gaze serenely over the valley. Evening Thamel welcome dinner.
The 3-day Kathmandu Valley Cultural Tour covers the full UNESCO World Heritage circuit of the Kathmandu Valley — seven monument zones that collectively represent one of the world's greatest concentrations of sacred architecture — with a licensed guide, private vehicle, and all entry fees included. Pashupatinath Temple (Nepal's holiest Hindu site), Boudhanath Stupa (Asia's largest Buddhist stupa and the spiritual heart of Nepal's Tibetan diaspora), Swayambhunath (the monkey temple, with valley panorama), and the medieval Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur form the core itinerary.
Three days allows genuine depth at each site rather than a rushed checklist. The second day is devoted to Bhaktapur — the best-preserved medieval city in the valley, with pottery squares, wood-carving workshops, and the 55-window palace that most day-trip visitors miss — and Patan, whose Durbar Square contains the finest collection of Newari bronze-work and pagoda architecture in Nepal. The third day adds Nagarkot at sunset for the Himalayan panorama and the Changu Narayan temple, Nepal's oldest surviving Vishnu shrine (7th century AD).
Best seasons: Year-round (avoid monsoon August for outdoor sites). Private guide and vehicle throughout. All UNESCO entry fees included.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
Ideal — post-monsoon clarity, comfortable walking, festivals like Indra Jatra and Dashain add cultural depth
Spring (Mar–May)
Warm, clear skies, spring festivals — great for outdoor photography at the ancient courtyards
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Cool and pleasant — lower crowds at major sites, crisp air for photography
Monsoon (Jun–Aug)
All heritage sites accessible. Outdoor walking is humid — carry rain jacket
