Where exactly does the helicopter land — do I reach Base Camp?

The helicopter lands at Everest Base Camp viewpoint (Kala Patthar area, approximately 5,500m) and at a scenic point near the Khumbu Icefall, giving you an eye-level view of the world's highest mountain without the weeks of trekking. Due to aviation safety regulations, landing directly on the Khumbu Glacier at EBC is not permitted — but the viewpoint landing delivers an equally breathtaking perspective.

How long is the actual helicopter flight?

The total flight time is approximately 1.5–2 hours including Kathmandu departure, Lukla fuel stop, mountain flight segment, and return. You spend roughly 20–30 minutes on the ground at altitude for photos and to soak in the panorama. The full day trip is typically 4–5 hours door to door from your Kathmandu hotel.

Is altitude sickness a concern on a one-day helicopter tour?

Yes — even with a brief landing above 5,000m, some passengers experience mild symptoms such as headache, dizziness, or nausea due to the rapid ascent. You should not drink alcohol the night before and should stay well hydrated. If you have a pre-existing heart or respiratory condition, consult your doctor before booking. The helicopter descends quickly if anyone is unwell.

What is included in the $1,400 price?

Included: private helicopter charter, Kathmandu hotel pickup and drop-off, a licensed guide who accompanies you on the flight, all flight permits and fees, and breakfast on the day of departure. Excluded: travel insurance (strongly recommended), personal purchases, and hotel accommodation (separate booking required if staying in Kathmandu).

Can the tour be cancelled due to weather?

Mountain weather in the Himalayas is unpredictable — flights are cancelled when visibility is poor or wind speeds are unsafe, typically 5–10% of scheduled days. We reschedule for the next available clear day at no extra cost. For this reason, we recommend not booking this tour on your last day in Nepal. A full refund is issued only if we cannot operate within your available travel window.

Is this suitable for children or elderly passengers?

The helicopter tour is suitable for most ages and fitness levels — there is no walking beyond a short stroll at the landing site. Children under 12 and passengers over 70 are welcome but should consult a doctor regarding the brief altitude exposure. The helicopter seats up to 5 passengers and is operated by a certified mountain aviation pilot with Himalayan flight experience.
