What permits do I need for the Everest Three Passes trek?+
The same two as Everest Base Camp and Gokyo: the Sagarmatha National Park permit (NPR 3,000) and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit (NPR 3,000). The Three Passes route stays within the Khumbu, so no extra permit is needed for the passes themselves.
Do I need a TIMS card for Gokyo or Three Passes?+
No. TIMS is not required anywhere in the Khumbu region — it was replaced in 2018 by the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit. You need only the Sagarmatha National Park permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu permit.
Do I need a guide for Gokyo or the Three Passes?+
Yes — since April 2023 a licensed guide is required for national-park trekking, and the high, glaciated Three Passes route in particular should never be attempted without an experienced guide. Every Travel Himalaya Nepal package includes the guide and both permits.
