If you are paying per day for a Nepal trek, the longer trip is not the cheaper one

A longer Nepal trek is not the cheaper one per day. Across the 80 trek packages we publish with a one-person price, the median solo price per day rises from about $114 on trips of 3 to 9 days to about $156 on trips of 15 days or more. These are our own published prices, read on 3 October 2026, and the figures below show how we got there.

Key takeaways
  • Per day, the longest treks cost the most. The median moves from about $114 to about $156 once a trek passes two weeks.
  • Group pricing is a separate question. For what each group size saves, see trek cost per day by region.
  • Compare the day rate, not the headline price. A 15-day trek costs roughly five times a 3-day one in total, but only about a third more per day.
  • Choose the length by the days you have. The day rate, not the headline price, is what changes with length.

How much does a Nepal trek cost per day?

On our published prices, a solo traveller pays a median of about $114 a day for a trek of 3 to 9 days, and about $146 to $156 a day for one of 10 days or more. We took the one-person tier for each trek and divided it by the number of days, then took the median of those daily figures. It is a typical price per day across our treks, not the price of an average trek divided by an average length.

Why does the price per day rise after two weeks?

The day rate climbs because the longest treks add nights and high-country days, and a trip's fixed costs are spread over fewer days only when the trek is short. Our bands show the rise starting in the 10 to 14 day group, which is where the median per day first moves above $114, and it levels off at about $156 for 15 days and over. We have not broken down the cost lines behind each price here, so we are describing the pattern in the published figures rather than explaining each rupee.

Two trekkers on a snowy Himalayan trail

A longer trek is not a worse trek. It is the one that buys more days in the mountains. If you have only 10 days, a shorter trek with a route you want can give more of what you came for than a longer one that stretches the budget.

For what a group saves, see our guide to guided trek cost per day by region, which sets out the group tiers.

How to pick a trek by price per day

Choose the trek by the days you can take and the route you want, then check its group rates on the tour page, because a longer trek will not get you a better daily price. If you want the lowest day rate, the 3 to 5 day and 6 to 9 day bands both sit near $114 a day in our data. If you want the high country and can give the time, the 10 to 14 day band is where the daily cost moves up.
