Bardia National Park is Nepal's most rewarding wildlife destination for serious safari visitors — a 968 km² protected floodplain in the far-western Terai with the highest density of wild Bengal tigers in Nepal, plus substantial populations of one-horned rhino, wild elephant, Gangetic dolphin, and gharial crocodile in the Karnali river. Unlike Chitwan, which receives over 100,000 visitors per year, Bardia gets approximately 15,000 — the wildlife is less habituated to humans and the encounters feel genuinely wild.
The 4-day itinerary includes two dawn jeep safaris, one dusk safari, a Karnali river canoe float for dolphin and crocodile spotting, and a guided jungle walk for close-encounter rhino and deer tracking. Lodge accommodation at the park boundary puts you 10 minutes from the best wildlife corridors. Tiger sighting rates at Bardia run at approximately 35% per visit — higher than Chitwan's famous rate.
