Best Season
Mar–May, Sep–Nov
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Evening briefing covering the Nar Phu Valley Restricted Area permit (required in addition to the Annapurna Conservation Area permit), the combined Nar Phu and Annapurna Circuit route, and high-altitude acclimatization strategy.
The Nar Phu Valley Trek enters one of Nepal’s most restricted and least-visited valleys — a hidden enclave of Tibetan-influenced culture north of the Annapurna Circuit. The ancient villages of Nar and Phu have barely changed in centuries.
Restricted area permit required — included in our package price.
Spring (Mar–May)
Best season. Snow clears from Kang La pass by April, wildflowers in lower valleys, excellent mountain visibility. Most trekkers choose spring.
Autumn (Oct–Nov)
Equally good — stable skies, clear views of Kang Guru and Pisang Peak. Trails dry and firm. October is the sweet spot.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Nar Phu is a rain-shadow valley so winters are drier and sunnier than Kathmandu. Cold but possible for experienced trekkers. Kang La may be impassable.
Monsoon (Jun–Sep)
Rain-shadow area — significantly less rain than Nepal's main ranges. An unusual but viable trekking window, though Kang La can be wet.
Nar Phu Valley Restricted Area Permit
USD 100 per person per week (first 2 weeks), USD 75/week thereafterMandatory restricted area permit. Requires a registered guide — independent trekking not permitted. Minimum 2 trekkers per group.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
USD 30Required for the Annapurna Circuit approach to Nar Phu valley.
TIMS Card
USD 20Required for all foreign trekkers in Nepal
All permits are arranged and included in your package price. Nothing to organise yourself.
A detailed packing list will be sent with your booking confirmation. Gear rental available in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
