With one week in Nepal, the Annapurna Panorama trek is the best fit: seven days, a Poon Hill sunrise, a top point of 3,210 metres and no flights. If you want the Everest region, the 7-day Everest View trek works, but it depends on a flight to Lukla and the weather that decides it.

Key facts
- Annapurna Panorama: 7 days, 3,210 m, US$670 solo, no flights
- Everest View: 7 days, 3,880 m, US$1,199 solo, flights included
- Mardi Himal and Poon Hill are shorter, at 4 and 5 days
What can you really fit into seven days?
You can fit a full trek of four to seven days, plus one day each side for arriving and leaving. A trek that runs seven days on the itinerary needs about nine days away from home, so a true week usually means a trek of five days or fewer, or a seven-day trek if you can add the travel days.

| Trek | Days | Top point (m) | Solo (US$) | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mardi Himal | 4 | 4,500 | 455 | Steep second day |
| Ghorepani Poon Hill | 5 | 3,210 | 500 | Busy trail in season |
| Annapurna Panorama | 7 | 3,210 | 670 | Includes a rest day in Pokhara |
| Everest View | 7 | 3,880 | 1,199 | Depends on Lukla flights |
Which week-long trek is safest for altitude?
Annapurna Panorama and Poon Hill are the safest because they never sleep above 2,860 metres. The US CDC Yellow Book warns about increasing sleeping elevation above 3,000 metres, and these two routes stay below that line at night.

The Everest View trek reaches 3,860 m at Tengboche, but it adds a day in Namche Bazaar at 3,440 m to acclimatise, which fits the CDC advice of a rest day every three to four days. Mardi Himal reaches 3,580 m on night two, so it suits regular hikers rather than first-timers.
What about the Everest region in a week?
The Everest View trek is the only real Everest-region option in seven days, and it is not a trek to Base Camp. It walks from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and the Everest View Hotel at 3,880 m, and the round-trip Lukla flights are included in our US$1,199 solo price, or US$1,020 each for two or three people.

The risk is the schedule. Flights to Lukla can be delayed by weather, and a one-week holiday has no spare days to absorb that. If you have to be home on a fixed date, the Annapurna routes carry less risk.
Who should pick which?
Pick Annapurna Panorama if you want a proper trek with no flights and a built-in spare day in Pokhara. Pick Poon Hill if you only have five days and want the classic sunrise. Pick Mardi Himal if you are fit and short of time. Pick Everest View only if you can accept a flight delay and want the Khumbu atmosphere on a budget of days.

What this means for you
Do not try to squeeze Everest Base Camp into a week. It needs more days than a week allows, and rushing the ascent is how people get sick. A shorter trek you finish happily beats a long one you abandon.
